Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information is collected when you use Home Yardstick (homeyardstick.com), who collects it and the choices you have. "We" and "us" mean the operator of Home Yardstick.
The short version
- We don't ask for your name, email or address to use any calculator, and there are no accounts.
- The calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers you type are not sent to us.
- Google and its partners use cookies to show ads on this site, which may be personalized based on your visits here and elsewhere. You can control this (see your privacy choices).
- We measure traffic with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies.
Information collected
Calculator inputs
Calculations happen on your device. If you use "Copy link," the inputs (numbers and options only, such as a roof pitch) are put in the link's address so you can share it. Never include personal information there.
Preferences stored in your browser
We save your unit choice (imperial or metric) and color theme in your browser's local storage. These stay on your device, aren't sent to us, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
Analytics
Cloudflare Web Analytics collects aggregate page-view information, such as the page visited, referring site, browser type and country, without cookies or fingerprinting. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
If you email us, we receive your address and message and use them only to reply.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
Third-party vendors and ad networks may also place and read cookies, web beacons and similar technologies on your browser, or use your IP address, to measure ad performance and personalize ads.

You can turn off personalized advertising from Google in My Ad Center, and opt out of personalized ads from many other vendors at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe). Opting out doesn't remove ads; you'll still see ads that aren't based on your interests.
Your privacy choices
Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland see a consent message from Google's certified consent management platform (Google Privacy & messaging) before personalized ads are used. You can change your choice at any time with the Privacy settings link in the footer.
US state privacy rights (including California CCPA/CPRA)
Some data use for personalized advertising may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California law and similar laws in other states. You have the right to opt out. Use theDo Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the footer, which opens Google's opt-out message. We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where our advertising partners support it.
Depending on your state, you may also have the right to:
- know what personal information is collected about you and how it's used;
- request deletion or correction of personal information;
- opt out of targeted advertising and of the sale or sharing of personal information;
- not be treated differently for exercising these rights.
We don't collect sensitive personal information and we don't sell information we hold ourselves. Because we don't keep visitor profiles, most data related to ads is held by Google and its partners; we'll help you route a request to them. To make a request, email info@homeyardstick.com with "Privacy request" in the subject. We may need to confirm your request before acting on it. An authorized agent can submit a request on your behalf with your written permission.
Children
This site is meant for adults and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Data retention and security
We keep emails only as long as needed to answer them. The site is served over HTTPS. Data held by Google and Cloudflare is subject to their own retention policies.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top.
